Fix "Invalid region" and shipping errors in Google Merchant Center

Getting "Invalid region" or a shipping currency error? Google accepts a shipping region only for Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Japan, New Zealand and the United States. For the UK or Canada, use a postal code or a Merchant Center location group. Then check that shipping is priced in the target country's currency and set for every country you target.

Products disapproved for "Invalid region" or a shipping currency mismatch? Check these three things.

1. Is your region code allowed in that country?

Google accepts the region part of the shipping attribute only for Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Japan, New Zealand and the United States. Use the ISO 3166-2 code without the country prefix, e.g. NY, not US-NY.

For the UK or Canada, use postal_code instead (UK outward code like N1C; Canada FSA like M5H or K*), or a location group set up in Merchant Center.

Inference, not confirmed by Google: a UK or Canadian feed sending a region value is a likely cause of "Invalid region". Check your app's shipping export before changing anything.

2. Is the shipping price in the target country's currency?

Google asks for a shipping price that can be shown in the target country's currency (ISO 4217). If your app exports shipping in one currency and you target another country, check which currency the feed is actually sending.

3. Do you have shipping for every country you target?

Shipping costs are required for Shopping ads and free listings in 30 countries, including the US, UK and Canada. Missing shipping for a region you ship to can disapprove the product or the account. Google recommends account-level shipping settings in Merchant Center, with the feed attribute only as an override.

Next step: in Merchant Center, open one disapproved product, note the exact error and the shipping value sent, and compare it against the three checks above. Change one thing, then wait for Google to reprocess before calling it fixed.

Synthetic example (made up for illustration, not a real store)

Before: shipping(country:region:price) = GB:LND:4.99 GBP (region not supported in the UK)

After: shipping(country:postal_code:price) = GB:N1C:4.99 GBP
